OCEAN TOWER IMPLOSION SET

The implosion of the Ocean Tower project is scheduled to take place Sunday, December 13th as close to 9am as preparations, security and weather allow. The date and time could change based on weather conditions.
This will be the tallest concrete building ever imploded anywhere in the world.
The area around Ocean Tower, including the water, will be secured prior to the implosion by area law enforcement personnel. No one will be allowed in the immediate area of the implosion, outside of appropriate personnel.
By its very nature, an implosion is a potentially hazardous event. This, combined with the anticipated number of observers, creates a special situation for security personnel. All spectators are observing at their own risk.
There will be limited parking for this event. A reminder that parking is not allowed along Padre Boulevard. All vehicles must be totally off Padre Boulevard.
Additionally, camping is not allowed within the city limits. There will also be no camping in areas within a safe distance north or west of the Ocean Towers site.
Multiple agencies are involved with security involving this event, coordinated by the South Padre Island Police Department. Padre Boulevard will be closed both north and south of the implosion area for an undetermined length of time before and after the event. Absolutely no unauthorized traffic will be allowed through the secured area before the event Sunday morning or for a length of time after the event.
